{"id":310,"date":"2025-07-06T20:09:58","date_gmt":"2025-07-06T20:09:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/quizlab.ai\/blog\/?p=310"},"modified":"2025-07-06T20:57:44","modified_gmt":"2025-07-06T20:57:44","slug":"ai-is-eating-content-creation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quizlab.ai\/blog\/ai-is-eating-content-creation\/","title":{"rendered":"AI is eating content creation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Internet, or at least the giant swath of original content that depends on visitors from Google for discovery or ad views, is being supplanted by AI summaries, claims <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudflare.com\/\">Cloudflare<\/a> CEO Matthew Prince.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Less than 3 years after the launch of <a href=\"https:\/\/chatgpt.com\/\">ChatGPT<\/a> popularized AI, AI&#8217;s dominance is already strong&#8230; and accelerating. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Prince:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ten years ago, 2 pages scraped by Google eventually turned into at least one visitor. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Six months ago, six pages scraped would ultimately result in  one visitor.   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Six months later &#8212; now &#8212;  Google sends just one visitor for every 18 pages it scrapes. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>According to Google, 75% of queries get answered by Google AI summaries, and those searchers don&#8217;t bother clicking through to the source content.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/H5C9EL3C82Y?feature=oembed\" title=\"Axios\u2019 Sara Fischer in conversation with Cloudflare\u2019s Matthew Prince\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\"  frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The situation is even more extreme when you look at other AI engines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Six months ago, 250 people had to query ChatGPT to translate into one outbound click to the original content. Today that number is 1,500 to 1.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At Antrhopic (<a href=\"https:\/\/claude.ai\/new\">Claude.ai<\/a>), 6,000 queries turned into one click six months ago. Today, 60,000 queries yield just one click to original content.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In short, &#8220;people aren&#8217;t following the footnotes,&#8221; said Prince. &#8220;They trust AI.&#8221;   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even the web&#8217;s strongest content creators are in jeopardy.  One in three visits to <a href=\"http:\/\/NYTimes.com\">NYTimes.com<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/website\/nytimes.com\/\">search<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Prince, Cloudflare plans soon to announce plans to spearhead a consortium that prevents AI companies from scraping original content without permission or compensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BTW, you may be wondering, what&#8217;s Cloudflare?
